At the heart of Debbie Lock Sugar Floral Design is a love of nature, artistry and creating flowers so realistic they stop people in their tracks.
Based in her studio in Stoke by Nayland on the Suffolk/Essex border, Debbie has been designing cakes and handcrafted sugar flowers professionally since 2007, building a reputation for elegant, lifelike floral work and beautiful attention to detail.
What began as a passion for baking quickly evolved into a recognised name within the sugarcraft industry. Debbie is known for her signature style of richly coloured floral arrangements, delicate petal work and botanical realism, with inspiration often drawn from the countryside, gardens and changing seasons around her. Every flower is individually handcrafted using homemade flower paste and designed to bring movement, texture and realism to cakes and sugar art displays.
Industry Awards & Recognition
Over the years, Debbie’s work has received multiple awards and industry recognition, establishing her as one of the UK’s most respected sugar floral artists.
Debbie was crowned the International Sugar Floral Artist of the Year at the 2024 D'licious Magazine Awards (DMAs), for which she now judges. In the same year she also took home Britain's Best Cake award.
Her creations have won numerous accolades including Gold and First in Category at Cake International, and Gold and Best In Class at International Salon Culinaire. She has been featured in multiple publications worldwide such as Cake Masters Magazine, D'licious Magazine, Saracino's We Love Pastry, and American Cake Decorating.
Debbie takes part in numerous international sugar art collaborations including the coveted Sugar Screams at Cake International. She frequently writes tutorials for magazines, and she teaches / demos at some of the world's leading cake shows including Puglia Cake Festival in Italy, CAKE & BAKE Dortmund, and Cake International UK.
